Receive the Gift

…It has been a busy, but beautiful past couple of days!  I am sorry I have not been writing… to my readers, but also to myself.  I like posting on my blog as it is a way for me to get my thoughts and feelings out on the page.  But I have had a lot of fantastic experiences over the last few days to share.  So I am getting started now!…

…On Saturday I went for a refresher in my Reiki training.  I have already done the Advanced Level Reiki Training last July, but wanted to go again as I am hoping to be teaching Reiki to others in the future.  I am so glad I went!  I had more than a refresher.  I had more than a class which was an observational experience so that I might be comfortable teaching.  I had a lovely day.  It was just purely and simply, lovely…

…The one major lesson I walked away from Saturday with was that receiving is a part of being well.  I must receive gifts into my life with open arms.  Others also must receive without hesitation.  I listened to many of the women’s stories in the group Saturday; not loving themselves, taking care of everyone else, not believing in themselves, not doing things for them, not sure of their path, not believing kind words, etc.  It struck me; we are so used to giving… we have no idea how to receive…

…Not only do we struggle with how to receive; we do not feel worthy of receiving.  Sometimes we put ourselves down so much that we do not feel as if we are supposed to receive anything from anyone else.  We dislike ourselves so much we do not believe the kind words we hear; in fact we may even twist around what someone said in order to hear it in a negative fashion!  Because… well, if it is about us… it must be negative!…

…I disagree with this entire mindset.  I believe we must shift our thinking.  Every single human being on this planet is worthy of love, respect, kindness; is worthy of the gifts being shared with them.  I believe that we must slow down and accept the gifts that come our way.  As I was sitting in my chair, re-getting my Advanced Level Reiki attunement; I took it all in.  I welcomed the gifts from my Reiki Masters, with open arms.  I felt so blessed, so happy, so lucky to be there!  I felt so much love coming at me.  Why would I not want to receive this?  I was so overtaken with joy and gratitude that a smile just formed across my face…

…In order to heal and live a healthy life of balance we must be able to receive into our lives.  We must be able to take in things.  We must accept ourselves.  We must accept the kindness from others.  We must slow down and not rush past the gifts.  We must be aware of the wonderful sharings coming our way…

…Here is an easy way to practice receiving.  Someone pays you a compliment.  What do you do?  Do you scoff at their words and brush them under the table?  Do you try to argue with them?  Do you laugh it off?  Do you feel weird?  Do you not believe them?  Next time someone pays you a compliment just accept it.  Say “Thank you” and feel the gift they are giving you.  By beginning with this simple form of receiving you will be more comfortable doing so when they gifts are larger.  Receive the gifts coming to you.  Loving yourself and knowing you are worth it are all part of being well in mind, body, emotion, and spirit…

How do you receive in your life?  Where have you noticed you are receiving wonderful gifts?
