…As I prepare myself for today’s radio show, I realize I do not know much about what we are about to talk about! I am going to have a wonderful woman who I met through a fantastic online networking group as my guest today, Michelle Dureuil Macek. She is a biodanza instructor, trainer, and teacher. I am really excited for our conversation today, but as I was prepping myself realized… I don’t know much about biodanza!…
…This led me to thinking about today’s blog post. We do not have to be knowledgeable about every single thing out there; we only have to be open to learning, to new experiences, and to the change and growth that comes from different situations. Instead of acting like I know it all; I feel comfort in sharing with readers, fans, and followers that it is ok to admit that you are not an expert in every single market…
…Being open to learning is being open to growth. As you learn about new modalities, whether they be in the health and wellness field or not, you are opening yourself up for growth, healing, and change. It is a magical and wonderful phenomena. I myself, love to learn! My background, education history, and current state of reading, taking courses and workshops, and going to trainings is pure example of how I love learning new things. I mean really, I finished my coaching training only to want to go back for nutrition specific coaching so that I could learn more about holistic and healthy foods!…
…So today, I am excited and ready to learn about this new wellness and healing modality, biodanza. I cannot wait to speak with Michelle to hear more about it! I am also so glad I will get to pass along the information she shares with me to my listeners so that they too will learn something new today! It will be a wonderful day of learning and growing all around us…
Some easy ways to continue with learning in your daily life are to:
- Read more. Even if you are a huge fan of reading books or lengthy prose; you can read articles, magazines, short stories… whatever suites you. Or you may even try the books on tape. Just try and take in information through written word as it is a great way to stimulate the brain and get more knowledge.
- Try a class or workshop. Find what you are passionate about or what you are interested in learning more about. Look online or in your local paper for some trainings, courses, or workshops. There are online workshops all the time! I know because I have colleagues that offer them.. and I offer them too! But take some time and invest some energy in a training course.
- Talk to new people. Strike up a conversation while you are waiting in line at the store or while you are taking mass transit. Often people we meet have things that they do, know, and have experienced that we might know nothing about. It is fun to meet new people!
- Be humble and realistic. It is ok if you do not have every answer. It is fine to not always be right. You don’t have to be an expert at everything. I know I’m not! Admit that there are others out there who know more about certain things than you do and cherish those differences among ourselves.
- And if you don’t know something; just ask. Instead of making up a statistic or quoting a false statement; just ask someone if you are unsure. People value the truth so much more than they do your impressive library of “knowledge.” And people can tell when you are making something up… for the most part. So just ask someone and you will be glad that you did!
