…What to write, what to write.  I have so many thoughts flowing through my head and many topics to cover.  I want to post on articles I read, suggestions I have for nurses, and things that happen to me.  Sometimes it can be overwhelming just narrowing down and picking a topic.  Today I would like to tell a story about my dog…

…So I have two dogs; both rescues from Baltimore Animal Rescue.  We are not really sure of their ages, but we guestimate them.  We got Reggie in 2007 after a break in at my house and at the time they told us he was about 1-2 years old.  And Rusty we got in 2009 in which they told us he was also 1-2 years old.  Come to find out that Rusty was much, much younger than they thought as our vet said he was probably only six months or so.  So since we got them both in September that is when their “birthdays” are and at this point Rusty is two and Reggie is 4…

…So somehow we trained Reggie the things like sit, down and stay (sort of).  But he knew the commands and he listened when you told him to do something.  He walked really well and was doing fairly good when we got Rusty.  Rusty came into the home and it was very different and overwhelming at times.  But here in lies the story.  So Rusty would just sit and stare at the wall.  We really thought he was slow or challenged or just plain dumb.  Very mean, I know but we did not know any better.  We got a dog trainer in to come to the house to help us with walking Rusty.  I was having trouble walking them both at once and Rusty was still pulling me down the road.  I needed some guidance and some help…

…So the dog trainer came in and we told her our experiences and what we would like help with.  We also for some reason shared the story that Rusty would just sit and stare at the wall.  We were shocked and embarrassed that the real reason Rusty actually sat and stared at the wall was because he was bored and because he did not know what else to do.  There was no direction in his life.  We were not teaching him the sit and down commands as we did Reggie because we thought Rusty would learn from Reggie.  The dog trainer said that this was not the case!  Rusty needed us to engage with him, teach him the commands, and guide him to what he was to be doing each day…

…As I was thinking of myself and my own life I thought of the this story with my dog Rusty.  He was very intelligent, he still is!  He is very fun.  He loves to learn and listen and play.  He loves to be challenged.  But he needs direction.  He needs some help and he needs someone there to show and tell him what to do.  So maybe with my own path I am on track.  I am getting some help and some guidance with my business building.  I went to a great workshop that taught me I did not know so many things about business building.  I am also seeking an established wellness community in Maryland to partner with.  I am growing a network of inspirational and expert women in the wellness field.  I am going to be working with a coach to guide me to my successful life path…

…Sometimes when we have so much that we can accomplish we can be like my dog Rusty, just staring at the wall.  We do not mean to procrastinate or sit idly, but we just do not know where to start or what to do first.  We then may feel overwhelmed and exasperated at all that has to get done.  And become paralyzed in our own thoughts of what to do next.  We all can use a bit of help and it is a good idea to figure out where you want to get some of your own!…

Who are your supporters?  Where do you go for guidance?  I’d love to hear some experiences of places and people who you have found to be helpful in your life.
