7 Tips for Reaching Your Goals

“Indecision is often worse than the wrong action.” unknown

…Today I had a really great talk with my Integrative Nutrition coach.  I had not spoken to her since August, since before the wedding.  It was good to touch base, but it also highlighted to me I may be over-doing it.  I had set goals in August with her and I would say about 50% of the them I reached; ok maybe 60%.  And during our discussion I realized, maybe I am over-extending myself.  Maybe I am being pulled in too many directions.  And not at the fault of the others; at the fault of myself.  I want to do it all!  I have so many great ideas for my business.  I listen to my nutrition course work and each new thing they suggest we do I try to take on.  I identify with so many of the avenues of reaching clients.  But maybe I am trying to do too many things at once.   Maybe I am, what is the saying, “a jack of all trades, but a master of none.”…

…And then I read this great quote on my friend Kimberly’s Facebook page, Thanks Kim!  “Indecision is often worse than taking the wrong action.”  Wow!  It hit me like a ton of bricks.  I mean I was speechless.  Maybe that is the quote of my day today.  For real.  I am dabbling in each new thing I learn.  I am trying each new experience and attempting to fit it all in.  But it is not working.  And after reading this quote, hearing my own struggle in these words, and then talking with my coach today I have decided that I require more clarity and focus in my life and in my business…

…I know I have done this before, but after talking with my coach my plan is even more apparent and stream-lined.  I am going to list out all the things I think I should be doing or that are on my to-do list.  I am going to then start doing them one by one, but not doing them all at once!  I am going to ask myself each time a new avenue presents itself; is this going to bring me to my ultimate goal or not?  And then decide from there if the action step is really necessary for me.  I am going to stick with the strategic plan I created while out the Online Business Breakthrough Workshop and do the things I had put down in my binder one by one.  I am going to realize that each and every new way to get in front of clients or reach nurses may not be the way that is for me…

Nice. So you keep them around and in plain vision to see all the time? That sounds like a good idea.

Thanks for shout-out, Liz! And what a great post… it reminds me that I, too, sometimes get overwhelmed by trying to do everything at one time. It also reminded me of a goal sheet my first coach gave me: it was for 3 months at a time, everything had a completion date and was listed in order… and I posted it on the cork board right above my monitor so I was reminded daily of the goals I WANTED to reach. It appears I need to revisit that system!

Kimberly, You are very welcome! And thank you for taking the time to post a comment. I would love to see that sheet. I often need a reminder for the goals I want to reach; rather than doing everything because I think I should or am “supposed” to. So thank you for that thought; doing things because we want to and because they support our goals. Love it!!
