When the going gets tough in nursing, or in any aspect of your life really… there is always something to be grateful for. Instead of complaining about the supplies, staffing, or time with your patient- what can you find in your shift today to be grateful for? Here’s a little inspiration to get you started:
Be Thankful (Author Unknown)
Be thankful that you don’t already have everything you desire.
If you did, what would there be to look forward to!
Be thankful when you don’t know something
For it gives you the opportunity to learn.
Be thankful for the difficult times;
During those times you grow.
Be thankful for your limitations
Because they give you opportunities for improvement.
Be thankful for each new challenge
Because it will build your strength and character.
Be thankful for your mistakes
They will teach you valuable lessons.
B thankful when you’re tired and weary
Because it means you’ve made a difference.
It is easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfilment comes to those who are also thankful for the setbacks.
Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive.
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles and they can become your blessings.
So true Elizabeth… I listened to a speaker that had been one of the 52 Americans that were held hostage in Iran. When asked how he survived and did not give up hope, he replied “Seeds of despair cannot grow in a thankful heart”. I have never forgotten his words. Thanks for the reminder to be thankful!
Michelle,

Elizabeth
There are a couple people I would love to share this with but I may find myself out of a job. In the meantime, I’ve shared on my fb page!
Marti, share away! Share with anyone and everyone, thank you! Elizabeth
