Be Your Authentic Self: 3 Reasons Why Nurses Must Comply

by | Oct 22, 2014 | 0 comments

No two people on this planet are exactly alike. Even twins. Yes, there is that ‘twin thing’ that happens where you can feel what the other twin is thinking. You get that ‘intuitive hit’ that your twin is experiencing something and you can feel it too. (I know from having a previous assistant nurse manager who was a twin; her and her twin sister seem to be attached at the hip… and the brain!)

Yet, no two people are exactly alike. Why? Because we all have our authentic spirit inside of us. As I was speaking to a group of aspiring nurse entrepreneur’s at the Nurse’s Health Institute Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada- I made this very point.

Let’s say you want to become a nurse health coach. You set out on your course, with all sorts of energy, enthusiasm and ideas- only to find that there are loads of other nurses out there doing health coaching. And what can happen?

You can become dejected. Lose that energetic high. Feel deflated, worried and even stop what you set out to do because you are afraid that everyone else is doing it better.

But that’s just the thing! They are doing it similar- not better, worse or even the same.

Giving my nurse entrepreneur talk to that group of bright-eyed newbie nurse entrepreneurs, I gave them hope. I told them that every single person is a unique individual. And you must be your authentic self if you want to succeed as a successful nurse.

[Tweet “Here are three reasons why being your authentic self will set you up for nursing success.”]

  1. Not everyone is going to like you. And that’s OK! Certain people will resonate with your message while others may resonate with another nurse professional’s voice. This makes it much easier to continue on with your dreams when ease up on the pressure that every single person has to agree with you.
  2. Once we realize that it is OK for people to choose other people we can then turn our attention to our mindset. Are we focused on lack or abundance? If we have an abundant mindset we know that there is enough to go around. If a person chooses another health coach other than you; that’s OK. Another potential client will come along who doesn’t want that other coach and only wants to work with you! There is enough for everyone.
  3. When you are your authentic self life gets much, much easier. You aren’t trying to be somebody you’re not. Or do something you don’t enjoy. The best way to attract more success to you is to have fun. When you feel upbeat and are enjoying the work that you are doing, people will see that. They will feel it. And they will gravitate towards you… wanting to know how they can get some of that too!

I’d love to hear from you. What would you add to this list? Why is it important that as nurse professionals we live as our authentic selves? Go ahead and leave your comments below. Enjoy your health today.
