Clear Intention and Focus

…So I have been wondering why I do not yet have any coaching clients.  I have a couple of reasons in mind.  But one is sticking out like a neon flashing light in my mind.  It all started a couple of weekends ago with listening to the IIN I-Pod classes for my nutrition coaching course.  I spoke of it last week but I listened to one class from an inspirational life coach, Debbie Ford.  She spoke of being really clear with ourselves of our vision and goals.  I then was watching Bethenny Ever After last night.  I know it is a bit odd, but she is a strong and inspirational business woman and even though sometimes her whiney Long Island accent and loud voice annoys me, I just turn down the television volume really low because I do find a message in many of the shows.  Her show last night had a real strong message which hit me right in the face; be clear about your vision and your intention and you will succeed…

…Having both of these things happen, having others around me ask me what my business was about, and having a fellow coach ask me what is your intention all in these past few months made me realize while I think I am being clear in what I want to do I do not think I have as much narrow focus and clarity as I could have to be successful.  I keep saying, “well, coaching is amazing because it really can work with anything the client wants to work on” and “I can coach people on any area of well-being that they are wanting to improve; nutrition, energy levels, weight, stress management, etc.”  But ok; so I have these broad intentions put out to the universe and I must get clear.  I keep writing for my readers and potential clients that you need to be very clear with what you are intending and declare it so that the universe can hear you and answer your intentions…

…I need to start taking my own advice.  But how to do it?  I need to get more clear with what I want to coach on.  I need to become more clear of my client base.  I need to get a very specific purpose, vision, mission, and goals down so that I can be hugely successful.  I mean Bethenny’s point last show was she had this small vision of her Skinny Girl Margarita.  She knew exactly what she wanted to do with it.  She knew where she wanted it sold.  She had a very specific plan and intention and declared that.  And now look at her successes.  She has her own show.  She has her own book.  She is on a book tour.  She does speaking events.  She has her own staff.  She lives in a beautiful condo.  And on her last show she was discussing selling the brand to the largest alcohol producer in the nation.  How’s that for success and getting what you intended to do!?…

…So first and foremost, I have been stating that I want to coach nurses.  I want my target group of clients to be nurses or those in the healthcare profession.  I want to help them to be healthy so that they can care for their patients and themselves in the most optimal way they are able to.  I feel if we make healthy our healthcare workforce we would have an even healthier nation.  Starting with those that are providing healthcare to the sick or unhealthy population we can create a model group that can show through their own behaviors and habits what it is like to live a balanced, healthy, and happy life.  If the nurses and healthcare professionals take care of themselves and are healthy they can be role models for their patients.  Currently this is not the case so this is where I want to start…

…But how do I do that?  How do I get clients who are in the healthcare profession?  This is where I need some assistance and guidance and self-reflection of my own to figure this question out.  Where do nurses go?  What do nurses do?  Where can I find them so that I can get to them?  Hmmm…

…So here is me being as clear and focused as I can:  I want to coach fellow nurses and healthcare professionals so that I can guide them to be healthy and balanced role models for their patients and for the world.  I want to be an advocate for wellness in healthcare.  I want to be a co-creator on the healthcare professionals’ path to a balanced well-being…

Where do you need clarity and focus?  What are your clear intentions?  Do you have any long-term goals for yourself that right now are so broad and scattered that you cannot get anywhere?  I’d love to hear from you on how you handle this strategy of clear intention and focus!

This is a constant struggle for me, actually. I tend to have a lot of ideas floating around of what I *might* want to do, but then my ideas get all jumbled and I can’t keep them straight! The day I decided to get my graduate degree was when I finally started narrowing things down. I’m not totally there yet, but I have some concept of where I’m headed now.

Thanks for sharing how it goes for you! What have you found works for you as far as getting all the ideas more focused? How did you decide to get your graduate degree? I’d like to hear more of your process as an idea for myself and others to try. Thanks for being so honest with us; I’d love to hear more!
