On behalf of Nursing@Simmons, I wanted to write you a note thanking you for your time and allowing us to speak with you on your book, Nursing from Within: A Fresh Alternative to Putting Out Fires and Self-Care Workarounds. In a time where nurses don’t receive much positive light in the media, your work gives a personal voice to a field that so deserves it, and for that, I applaud you.
It was an absolute pleasure to read your book and to hear how deeply your profession has impacted you as a person and shaped your outlook on life. Your enthusiasm and passion are contagious and despite your own personal struggles as a nurse, your perseverance to find peace and to take care of yourself while taking care of others is truly remarkable. Additionally, your leadership in the nursing field is inspiring and something we hope that our students can look up to as they prepare to begin their work. As we continue to educate the nurses of tomorrow, it is voices like yours that help others remind themselves of the true rewards of nursing and to absolutely love what they do.
Your book has provided so many with a renewed sense of purpose in their careers and in their lives, which is certainly no easy feat. Touching upon some key messages for nurses like living in the moment and taking control of your own thoughts, Nursing from Within captures the very essence of how nurses can not only cope with the stresses of their work, but reignite the passion for their career. I can attest that your book has fueled some much-needed discussion in the classroom about maintaining a sense of self and personal values.
Again, I so appreciate your time and we are thrilled to support Nursing from Within as a vehicle to inspire nurses everywhere. I wanted to let you know that your interview is live on our blog, so feel free to check it out here.
All the best,
Shane Ryan; Community Manager; Nursing@Simmons
