Happy (early) Thanksgiving! (to those reading who celebrate) Gosh, I always want to celebrate holidays on my blog and then am aware that this wonderful thing called the world wide web is actually- world wide.

But really, Happy Thanksgiving- to you all. Even if you do not celebrate, I think that this holiday is one holiday that’s meaning can truly be felt worldwide.

And why?

Well, if you keep it about the actual word ‘Thanks-Giving’, and don’t get wrapped up in all of this Black Friday nonsense- well, then you truly are celebrating the most noble holiday of all.

• We get paid overtime to work holidays! (Yes, working a holiday may suck- but think about the extra cash.)
• We get to help other people on a daily basis.
• We are always one of the most trusted professions according to all of the yearly polls.
• We know a LOT about health and how to help someone in a crazy situation.
• We are respected and valued because of what we do.
• We have fun working in teams, alone, or however we practice- but most of all we have FUN with our patients.
• We are problem solvers and can typically workaround any blockage.
• We are creative, innovative and very, very smart.
• We love what we do and would do it no matter what tough career circumstance was thrown our way.
• We get to teach, advocate, heal and take care of (the list could go on and on…)!

I love being a nurse. In whatever way that is. That’s another one- we can be nurses in such a wonderful variety of ways that we can be grateful for our unique nursing career paths. I say I am thankful for being a nurse every single day in my gratitude practice.
