…To me, being healthy is more than just about “weight”. It is more than just looking physically attractive or being a “thin” person. Being healthy has so many aspects to it. It is my belief that being healthy, living healthy, is an entire lifestyle…
…Is health something that can be measured? Is health something that is “reached”? Or are we always striving to be more and more healthy each day? Is it something we are constantly journeying with? Is “health” a state-of-mind? Or is it a destination?…
…Health is a total body experience. I cannot see someone who is thin and relatively healthy in appearance who abuses drugs, cheats on his wife, and is mean to his co-workers as being a “healthy” person. I also cannot view someone who is so kind, loving, and warm-hearted but who takes no care of themselves or their body as a “healthy” person. Health is something that we are striving towards in body, mind, emotion, and spirit…
…And our health, or lack thereof, is linked together. So… when someone is overweight, with high blood pressure, and type two diabetes… they usually have more than what meets the eye going on. They also could be stressed by relationship issues with their parent, obsessing over financial burdens, or imbalanced by poor sleep cycles. Physical symptoms typically do not just sprout up on their own. They come from somewhere. The body is an amazing thing. What we hold onto, are blocked by, or have imbalances in causes dis-ease within the body…
…To me, there are so many levels to health, to wellness, and to well-being. Here are just some to contemplate:
- Financial health
- Relationship health
- Emotional health
- Physical health
- Nutritional health
- Career health
- Spirituality health
- Mental health
- Energetic health
- Rest health
- Exercise health
- Sexuality health
- Family health
- Environmental health
- Community health
…This list could go on and on… and on. This list is by no means exhaustive. I just wanted to illustrate that health is more than just what our physical body feels or looks like. Our health is also something that is not finite. At times we may feel healthier than others. Or we may choose healthy things one day and then splurge another. I think that health is a journey, a process, and a path. I think health is a lifestyle…
What do you think about health? How do you view your own health? When have you felt your healthiest? Why is health important to you?
