Mondays. My ‘hardest’ day of the week. While I enjoy my nursing career as a nurse entrepreneur, I find that getting in gear on Monday morning is the most difficult thing for me to do.

Today started off like every other Monday morning. I wanted to lie longer in the bed. I missed my husband while he was at work. I didn’t want to check my emails since I hadn’t read them all weekend and the in-boxes would be full.

As a busy nurse professional, I am sure you get the picture.

So today’s blog for nurses is short-and-sweet. It is about the one thing. The best action step you can take to move your nursing career forward. And that is all there is to it. (If you are confused and thinking to yourself, ‘Elizabeth- what is the one thing?’ don’t worry I will share it again. Sometimes the simplicity of things makes it complex for us to understand it.)

My business coach, Alicia Forest, always tells us “If you can’t do it all; do the one thing that will move your business forward.”

  • Too tired from the long to-do list that still needs to get done?
  • Overwhelmed by nursing career decisions that are looming over your head?
  • Confused by all of the career alternatives for nurses these days?

My advice to you today is simple. As Alicia tells us, I am telling you:

[Tweet “Pick one thing. Just do one thing today to move your nursing career forward.”]

When we focus in on the one thing we can do today to move our nursing career forward we can:

  • Eliminate all of the minutia. The distraction overwhelm can just melt away. We can narrow in on that one thing that will help us advance our nursing career to the job of our dreams.
  • Cut down on procrastination paralyzation. When there is too much to do, it causes us to become stuck. Nothing gets done because everything seems like too much. Getting just one thing done makes it that much easier to move forward.
  • Focusing on the most important thing that has to get accomplished creates clarity among the chaos. When we zone in on the one aspect that will move our nursing career forward, we create that vision of success. We easily begin to propel ourselves closer to that which we most desire.

What about you? What would you add to this list? How does focusing in on just one thing help you in your nursing career? I would love to hear some added benefits from you. Leave a comment below. Thanks for reading!

      Kathy,

I totally agree. This also makes for a much less hectic work day when we can do the items we set out to do and then leave the rest of to the flow of the universal dance. Makes room for more fun, something I value deeply. Thanks for your comment.

      Enjoy the day,
      Elizabeth
