Learn from Dr. Rachel Silva, NP

As I shared in my post, ‘Words of Wisdom: The Best Nursing Advice Ever Received‘, my intention is to highlight nurses who have helped, inspired, and shared great wisdom with me along my nurse entrepreneur journey.

Today, I’d like to introduce you to Dr. Rachel Silva, NP.

Words of Wisdom: Learn from Rachel Silva, NP #nursingfromwithinDr. Rachel is a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) with board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner.  She has over 20 years of nursing experience and is diversely experienced with a comprehensive background in the areas of medical-surgical, physiatry, psychiatry, obstetrics, women’s health, developmental disabilities, retail health, and as a primary health care provider across the lifespan.

Her clinical interests include family healthcare with a focus on health promotion and disease prevention. During her spare time she enjoys reading, traveling, learning about diverse cultures, geocaching for hidden treasures, and spending time with her friends and family. She believes nurses should be empowered to provide evidence-based healthcare and improve patient outcomes. For this reason she founded Accessible Healthcare Institute™, LLC and created The Nurse Practitioner Show.

Now this is where the ‘words of wisdom’ come in. I’ve got to tell ya… every single time (I mean, every time) I visit Rachel’s blog I learn something new. This nurse has got it going ON! She is a genius.

From the resources, references, and information she shares in each post to the thoughtful, well-researched articles she writes on a regular basis- going to Dr. Rachel’s blog is similar to receiving a nursing degree. Through her website!

Words of Wisdom: Learn from Rachel Silva, NP #nursingfromwithinI’ve shared before- I’m not much of a nurse-y nurse. I went straight into psychiatric nursing after graduating from my accelerated nursing program. Heck, I never even wanted to be a nurse (and didn’t do that well in school!). So for me, every single post educates me in some way.

From her article on autism, to her podcast on antibiotics- I learn something new all of the time. There’s so much wisdom coming from Dr. Silva on a daily basis that it’s hard to nail down just one thing to share with you.

What I will tell you is this: I have received wisdom, knowledge, and information from Rachel. Not only that, I have received a reminder that learning can be fun. I have also gained more resources to share with others in my own nursing career journey. The ‘words of wisdom’ from Rachel Silva, to me, showcase the fact that we can be teachers on a daily basis, in many different ways.

How do you allow the teacher within you to shine? Where do you go for new knowledge and how do you pass it on? I’d love to hear from you. Thanks for reading and leave a comment below.
