Reiki & Joy: Bringing Smiles into Your Work

by | Nov 11, 2013 | 0 comments

One of the questions I get asked a lot is: “How come you always have such a huge smile on your face?” After the initial gratitude, and then the response that I am blessed with such a toothy-grin from my uncle Billy… I then take time for inner reflection.

You see, I wasn’t always this smiley-faced gal. In fact, I clearly remember one day my mother scolding me around the age of 12 for the bad ‘attitude’ she assigned to me that afternoon in the basement after yet another argument.

I used to have a bad attitude. In fact I could get pretty nasty, rude, and low.

Now to be honest, I can still have a ‘low’ day from time-to-time… but these are coming much less often. And I love the feelings of joy, cheer, and gratitude that overtake the few and far between feelings of sadness, worry, or fear.

So what happened?

Well, I ‘chose’ (that’s right chose) to change my attitude. I also allowed Reiki to flow and opened up to receiving more joy and peace of mind.

Here are two pieces of information I’d like you to contemplate if you’re struggling with being labelled a bad ‘attitude’ kind of person:

  • Everything is a choice. It all comes down to the thoughts in your mind. If you are thinking over and over about negative, bad, down, or degrading thoughts… you will feel negatively and then in turn, will act that way as well. Thoughts become actions and you can choose the thoughts that create your behaviors and attitudes.
  • Once we’ve chosen to change our attitude we must open up to the flow. Our ego will try to have us backslide to the comfortable familiar way, in this case offering a ‘bad’ attitude to our situations. We’ve got to trust and allow this new energy in. We’ve got to open up and receive the ideal and intention that a new way is possible. Yes, even for us- it is.

I’ve got to tell you… one way that I turn any frown upside down is with music. I can put on my favorite band (moe.) and just jam out to the rock and roll music, any time of day. I’ll jam in the car to let go of stress from work. I’ll jam in my living room to dance with my doggies. I’ll jam in my office to pump myself up for a webinar.

Find the music that uplifts you, your mood, and shift that bad attitude into something great!

Here’s an awesome clip of my band at ‘work’. Enjoy!!
