“They’re cancelling our event!” gushed my co-worker as I entered the building for my shift. “Well, I guess it wasn’t meant to be…” my easy-going response to her jaw-dropped face.
She immediately turned and ran off… I guess to tell my boss that I wasn’t concerned at all that the evening workshop that we had been planning for months (and even had a local celebrity coming to to speak about container gardening and healthy vegetables) was cancelled.
My boss slowly glided over, as he had a tendency to do, “So what’s this? I hear you’re not upset about the event this week?”
Again, my reaction: “Nah… as I said… it’s being cancelled for a reason. There must be something that we don’t know or aren’t aware of yet… but I’m sure it’s for the best. Everything works out for a reason…”
He stood. He paused and smiled. He said, “Now what’s with you? This isn’t the Scala (that’s what he used to call me) that I know… What’s going on?”
What was going on? What was it that had changed me? Because BElieve me! I was NOT at all this easy-going, go-with-the-flow, enjoy life type of gal. ANYONE who knows me when I worked as an inpatient psych nurse could tell you I was anything but.
In fact, I had been called such things as ‘high maintenance,’ ‘drama queen,’ and (my personal favorite) ‘alarmist’. Puh-lease! I was not!! (Okay, yes… yes, I was). So that’s why I could totally see why my boss was now standing there before me, quite dumbfounded with my reaction.
So- what WAS going on was that I had been through my first few weeks of Reiki I. I had been through my first few lessons, my first few readings, and my first introduction to the flow of energy.
I had been devouring everything I could get my hands on in terms of mindfulness, universal laws, holistic modalities, and energy healing. I was using Reiki on myself on a daily basis. I was in straight up puppy love with my newly appreciated sense of self.
I knew the secrets of life. I knew that I would feel better if I let go of worry and anger. I knew that everything happened for a reason. I knew that I could no longer control every little detail of my life. I knew so much.. but the wonderful thing was that this was just my introduction!
I would continue to heal, learn, grow, and change over time.
So when people ask me, “How has Reiki helped you?” I can EASILY tell them this story, relaying how I let go of my need to control. I enjoy a life of peace and calm that is much more easy-going and relaxed. I am no longer tense, uptight, and angry. I flow with the course of life and enjoy the ride. I love how happy I feel and wouldn’t change a day in my life since learning this simple tool!
How about you? How has Reiki helped you? Or what other holistic modalities have helped you in some way? I’d love to hear from you and if you’re interested in learning more about Reiki; contact me at support@elizabethscala.com or (410) 929-0081. Have a healthy day!
