Two Quick & Easy Tips to Energize the Tired Nurse

Are you a busy nurse who can’t seem to find the time for exercise? Or what about this: you just don’t enjoy it!?!

I get asked all of the time, “Elizabeth- how do I fit in exercise as a busy nurse? Especially I’m on my feet all day, putting out fires, lifting patients and doing manual labor? Isn’t that enough ‘exercise’ in and of itself?”

I know I have heard nurses tell me (and I have said it before as well): “The last thing I want to do when I get home is get dressed, go back out and exercise at a gym.”

So here are two things that have helped me stay in the routine of exercise. Enjoy the video for two easy, convenient and inexpensive ideas:

I am a constantly tired nurse! I do permanent nights (I guess that’s why), aside from exercise, I’ve been messing with my sleep patterns to find something that works. I’m trying the suggestions in this article:

The polyphasic sleep is impossible, but the Siesta Sleep is OK: I feel a bit brighter, and I even have adapted it to my days off.

I loved the video and suggestions. You know me…..it’s not an easy thing to do working nights and then exercise when all you want to do is get into bed exhausted, achy and get some much-needed sleep! I’m going to TRY and start doing something physical once/wk before getting into bed and take it from there. I’ll let you know!

      Marti,

Just one time a week is perfect. If you have trouble doing any at all- you know, start small. Then you can always increase it when the time is right. Thanks for the comment. Enjoy the day,

      Elizabeth
