Work Out!

People Exercising at a GymnasiumJust had a great work out. What I love most about working out is the music, body movement, and energy flowing through the body.

As a Reiki Nurse, you might think I am very “in tune” with energy… that intuition, energetic feeling, sense of knowing

Well, surprisingly, I’m not.

I’m actually quite analytical. Logical. That scientific, organized, in my head kind of person. I am working on better balancing the two- but alas… I still realize from time-to-time I need to “get out of my head” and more into my body, my sensations, my feeling, my energy, my “ME”.

Reiki is a beautiful guide for this.

Ever since I learned Reiki I am more and more aware of my energy and the energy around me. I can sense the energy in a room or on a phone call. I even notice that when I pull onto the highway I can feel the energy of the road, the pulse of the traffic. I am trusting more and more my own energy and feeling into my decisions, my use of my Reiki practice, and how I can help myself and others.

Reiki isn’t about being in the head. It isn’t about thinking. It doesn’t involve my ego.

If I find myself worrying “is it working”, “am I doing this right” I quickly realize I have left the Reiki energy and moved back into the thinking process of my over-analytical ego. I calmly and gently take a deep breath, pause, and go back to the Reiki energy. And every single time I do it I am pleasantly surprised with the feedback I receive.

Things like:

  • “I was so relaxed…
  • I could melt into my chair…
  • My shoulders just let go and let down…
  • I was in and out of sleep…
  • My pain is gone…
  • My breath felt clean…”

And so on and so on. Even when I “think” the Reiki isn’t doing anything; I am reminded to go back to one of the most unique principles to the Reiki energy– the thing that I love which keeps it so simple:

Reiki goes where the recipient needs it to.
